Today we woke up early in the megalopolis, the capital of Mexico, to visit and make some pictures in the Historic Center with the PEUGEOT LANDTREK.
We were looking forward to see the region. Early in the morning, we met Franky Mostro (@frankymostro), our Mexican host and a well-known digital influencer here.
As in every big city, traffic, even in the morning, was already chaotic towards the center. At first, a normal day, but then we started to be surprised by the large number of police officers on every corner we crossed.
When we got close to the historic part of Mexico City, we came across a police blockade. We asked them what was going on, and a police officer explained that there would soon be a big manifestation in the region, that is why the streets were closed.
We were frustrated! But travelling is like this, even if our planning is complete and detailed, there are many factors that can change the entire schedule.
The cool thing is that we continued with the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK up to the Palacio de Bellas Artes – the main opera house in the country, a city icon. And the good part is that religion was not banned, phew! So we could produce beautiful images to share.
The Palacio de Bellas Artes is a pearl of Mexico City. A building of Parisian architecture and imposing. An old and very well preserved place. The feeling is that time stopped there. Even inside the modern PEUGEOT LANDTREK, history was very present, in every place we saw.
We were gifted with the contrast between new and old, between the imposing and the robust design of the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK and the old historic buildings. And so, like the new Peugeot pick-ups – with an imposing exterior design, full of personality, but with a fabulous interior, it is the Palacio.
After an intense morning in Mexico City, we continued our journey towards Puebla – the 4th largest in Mexico and one of the oldest cities, which it is approximately 150km from the capital. On the way, we stopped at Cholula – a small town, close to Puebla, which has a very interesting history.
Cholula is the largest pyramid structure known to mankind, known as the Pyramid of Tepanapa or the Great Pyramid of Chocula. To get an idea, its base is square and is 450m by 450m. It’s impressive!
And the region has very interesting facts. The first and the more interesting, is that as the pyramid was covered with soil and vegetation, for centuries it was unnoticed by residents, only in the beginning of the 20th century the ruins of this immense structure were discovered, transforming the entire complex into an archaeological site.
Another interesting fact is that at the top of the pyramid there is an imposing architectural construction, the Sanctuary La Virgen de los Remedios – a Catholic church from the 16th century.
It is worth remembering that in the region, there are dozens of churches, very well conserved and preserved. So it was easy to make beautiful images, with the PEUGEOT LANDTREK, that reflect the history of the Mexican people.
Without a doubt, a very beautiful region of Mexico that highly worth visiting!
We continue our trip on board of the PEUGEOT LANDTREK towards Puebla, or Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza, in south-central Mexico, capital of the state that has the same name.
To end the day, we were invited to participate in the launch event of the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK at the local dealership, the Peugeot Etoile. An event with restricted access to the public, following all the COVID-19 protocols, but with live broadcast on Facebook and very well produced.
Shortly after the launch of the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK, Israel, a journalist and a member of our team, gave an interview sharing a little of our adventure towards the “End of the World”. Then, we taste delicious appetizers and return to the hotel.
A well-deserved rest for us, and for the PEUGEOT LANDTREK, after an intense day full of compromises.
Our adventure in Mexico continues with high doses of culture and history, as well as fantastic landscapes!
Tomorrow it will be the turn of the customers here in Puebla to put the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK to the test on a 4×4 track.
